Swedish Rural idyll - Torarp - Kronobergs län - Småland - Sweden

            Note the red painted woodwork. The paint is called "rödfärg" in Swedish and "svenskrød" in Danish. In Sweden, this paint has been used since the 18th century. The pigment is originally due to a roughly equal mixture of iron oxide and quartz, a by-product from the Swedish copper mines in the Dalarna area. The majority of the paint is still produced here.
