ship mill / Schiffsmühle, Ginsheim / Rhein

            For several centuries, ship mills worked in the Rhine stream in front of Ginsheim. Up to 21 of these floating small businesses for grain processing were anchored here at the same time before they had to give way to the emerging industrialization and the growing shipping traffic.

Über mehrere Jahrhunderte hinweg arbeiteten Schiffsmühlen im Rheinstrom vor Ginsheim. Bis zu 21 dieser schwimmenden Kleinbetriebe zur Getreideverarbeitung waren hier gleichzeitig verankert, bevor sie der aufkommenden Industrialisierung und dem wachsenden Schiffsverkehr weichen mussten.
