05 10 24 / Arturo 'Little Art' Merzario

            Happy Birthday to Arturo Merzario who turns 82 years old today. 

While he competed in 85 Grand Prix, never finding a podium he also founded his own Formula One Team, but didn't realize any success there either, he did however win the 1970 Targa Florio and Spa 1000 Kilometres Sports Car Races in 1970.

What " Little Art ' accomplished at the German Grand Prix in 1976, sets him as a hero. He along with three other drivers pulled over to attend Niki Lauda's horrific crash at the Nurburging circuit. 

Lauda's Ferrari engulfed in fire, the four of them helped to extract Lauda from the burning car. But Lauda himself stated that it was Merzario who braved the flames to pull him out of danger.
