Dolbadarn at Gilfach Ddu - a photo on Flickriver

            Looking slightly seedy, I think this must have been during it's early days at the Llanberis Lake Railway. Incidentally, spot the "Raleigh Chopper" leaning against the Cortina in the background!

Dolbadarn is a  'Dinorwic Port type', No 1430, built in 1922. It originally worked at Port Dinorwic, then from 1936 in Dinorwic Quarry until withdrawal in 1967, making it one of the last steam locomotives in quarry use in the country.

In 1969 Dolbadarn was sold to the Llanberis Lake Railway, becoming No 3, and after running for a while in bright yellow was re-painted in pale green livery in 2010.
