            There is a point along the river where silence stops being peace and becomes shame.
A shame that does not belong to nature, but to us.
This crushed can is not just trash:
it is the exact portrait of human indifference,
the petty signature of those who move through the world without respect,
of those who believe that what they leave behind simply disappears,
as if the earth were just a backdrop and not a mother.
Walking along the banks of the Ticino, I see the same scene every day:
small, irresponsible gestures that, accumulated, become deep wounds.
And while many keep turning their heads away,
nature remains there, forced to gather what it does not deserve.
I don’t.
The trash I find, I pick up and carry away.
Not because I feel like a hero,
but because I refuse to be an accomplice.
Because beauty cannot defend itself.
And I ask myself:
what will future generations do — those who will love nature as we do?
Instead of photographing clear horizons, soft fogs and light brushing the branches,
they will find, everywhere, the proof of our failure.
Their compositions will no longer be made only of landscape and breath:
everywhere a bag, a bottle, a piece of waste will appear.
We will call it “splatter photography.”
And it will be exactly what we left them as inheritance.
If this image disturbs you, it means it is working.
It means it reminds us of a simple, uncomfortable truth:
the beauty of the world is not owed to us — it must be respected, protected, defended.
Those who choose indifference surrender to ignorance.
Those who choose to see take the first step toward responsibility.

C’è un punto lungo il fiume in cui il silenzio smette di essere pace e diventa vergogna.
Una vergogna che non appartiene alla natura, ma a noi.
Questa lattina non è soltanto un rifiuto:
è il ritratto esatto dell’indifferenza umana,
la firma meschina di chi attraversa il mondo senza rispetto,
di chi crede che ciò che lascia dietro di sé svanisca da solo,
come se la terra fosse uno sfondo e non una madre.
Camminando lungo le rive del Ticino vedo ogni giorno la stessa scena:
gesti piccoli e irresponsabili che, sommati, diventano ferite profonde.
E mentre molti continuano a voltarsi dall’altra parte,
la natura resta lì, a raccogliere ciò che non merita.
Io no.
La spazzatura che trovo la raccolgo e la porto via.
Non perché mi senta un eroe,
ma perché non voglio essere complice.
Perché la bellezza non si difende da sola.
E mi chiedo:
cosa faranno le generazioni future, quelle che ameranno la natura come la amiamo noi?
Al posto di fotografare scorci limpidi, nebbie morbide e luci che accarezzano i rami,
si troveranno ovunque la prova del nostro fallimento.
Le loro composizioni non saranno più fatte solo di paesaggi e respiro:
dappertutto comparirà un sacco, una bottiglia, un rifiuto.
La chiameremo “fotografia splatter”.
E sarà esattamente ciò che avremo lasciato in eredità.
Se questa immagine disturba, vuol dire che funziona.
Vuol dire che ci ricorda una verità semplice e scomoda:
la bellezza del mondo non ci è dovuta — va rispettata, protetta, difesa.
Chi sceglie l’indifferenza si arrende all’ignoranza.
Chi sceglie di vedere compie il primo passo verso la responsabilità.
