Con ternura, con paz, con inocencia,
con una blanda tristeza o el cansancio
que viene a ser un perro fiel que acariciamos,
estoy sentado en mi sillón y soy feliz,
y soy feliz
porque no siento la necesidad de pensar algo preciso.

Con una fatiga que no es un desengaño,
con un gozo que no alienta esperanzas,
estoy en mi sillón, y estoy
en algo que quizás sólo es amor.

Sé que floto
y nada me parece sin embargo indiferente;
sé que nada me alegra ni me duele
y que sin embargo todo me enternece;
sé que eso es el amor,
o que quizá solamente es un dulce cansancio;
sé que soy feliz
porque no siento la necesidad de pensar algo preciso.
