Luton - a photo on Flickriver

Luton

            45104 sweeps past Luton with an up express on 28 June 1979, this the view from the Crawley Green Road bridge.

Above the locomotive can be seen the truncated former GNR line from Dunstable to Hatfield, with the 1965 connection from the MML. Having accessed the connection, which ran off the down fast, the train would run down onto the branch, the locomotive running round before proceeding. Heating oil tankers to/from Dunstable can be seen stabled between the fast and slow lines.
