Original version of Anita in far background walking through Mono Lake grasses on a cold cold morning 20110926-063918 C4Ae

            This is the original version of the image of the wetlands bordering Mono Lake early on a cold Monday morning near the end of September 2011. A moderately cropped version is in the following slide. My photography friend Anita and I had taken a trip to Mono Lake via California State Route 120 through Yosemite and over Tioga Pass. In this image, Anita is but a speck in the left middle for this early morning photo excursion. We had parked near Navy Beach and I shot mainly from there. Anita walked some distance West toward the South Tufa Area where she is standing in this photo. You can see a telephoto shot of Anita in the second slide following this. My camera was at its widest angle and wide open for this uncropped shot. Glad my camera was even working in this cold, cold morning. It is difficult to imaging this scene is in the middle of a desert. Though this lake is teeming with life, it is too alkaline for humans and other than these lush grasses. Not too far from here are fields of tumbleweed and even volcanic cinder domes.
