BRC Roads : advert issued by the British Reinforced Concrete Engineering Co Ltd., Stafford ; in Architectural Review, London, No. 443, October 1933

            An advert from the Architectural Review for October 1933 for the British Reinforced Concrete Engineering Co Ltd who were regular advertisers in the magazine often, as seen here, on the back cover. As the demands on existing roads rose and with new roads required due to the increase in motorised traffic the use of reinforement for road foundations came to the fore. 

BRC, formed in 1920 and originally based in Manchester, not only constructed in concrete but manufactured materials such as steel wire reinforcing mesh or mats for use in such situations as road foundations. The advert shows a busy scene on New Oxford Street in London that is full of LGOC buses (mostly now covered top with only one older open top model shown) and a Pickford's van.
