57316, Fratton, February 21st 2015

            1Z21 0614 Doncaster-Portsmouth Harbour.

Delivered new to York depot in March 1966 as D1992 this locomotive gained it's TOPS ID in September 1973 becoming 47290. After starting in BR two tone green it gained BR Blue before then getting the original railfreight livery (no red stripe) and then two tone grey railfreight treatment with distribution decals. After privatisation 47290 moved to Freightliner and wore the grey livery with a red triangle which is the livery it carried until withdrawal and storage in March 2004. Shortly after this 47290 moved to Brush in Loughborough for conversion to 57316 and a repaint into Virgin livery for Thunderbird duties. In 2008 57316 was leased to Arriva Trains Wales and received the ATW livery for use on the Holyhead-Cardiff 'WAG Express' which continued until Class 67s took over their duties in 2012 after which 57316 moved to West Coast Railway Company for use on charters and despite losing the Arriva branding it retains the Arriva base livery.
