HCVS London to Brighton Run 2021 - the year that never was (again!)

A quartet of photos to mark the day that would have been the 2021 HCVS London to Brighton Run.

Rather than dwell on the obvious, it's great news that the HCVS are planning for the Ridgeway Run later this year, and other events are also going ahead.

This photo is a blown-up version of a slide that I purchased on eBay many years - I don't know the original photographer, but I hope they won't mind me sharing this one - I'm fairly sure it's from the 1966 Run, which was sponsored by National Benzole and it features the 1920 AEC K Type London bus - XC8059, which at the time was under the care of the Museum of British Transport.

Also in the photo, note the dignitaries riding on top-deck, as well as on the scooter in the background. And the Sunday-best crowds lining the arches.

Other vehicles include a 1930 Albion-Merryweather fire engine UR9029, with a Hatfield pump. It served originally with Ware Fire Brigade - a link to its history is here: www.benfleethistory.org.uk/content/browse-articles/areas/...

I think we can also see HA2064 , the Morris Commercial 1-ton lorry that now resides at the British Motor Museum, Gaydon. Alongside this is what would have been the support vehicle (British Motor Corporation)
