2006 Audi R10 TDI

            Pictured is the actual winning car from the 2006 Le Mans 24 Hours endurance race.

This car was driven to victory by German duo Frank Biela and Marco Werner and Italy's Emanuele Pirro. It also has a place in history as the first diesel-powered car to win the classic race.

The Audi R10 TDI was introduced in 2006, replacing the superb R8, a car that had won every year at Le Mans between 2000 and 2005, with the exception of 2003. The R10 didn't disappoint and would itself win the classic event in 2006, 2007 and 2008.

The 2006 R10 was also campaigned in the American Le Mans Series (ALMS), taking nine outright victories from ten races and a clean sweep of LMP1 class victories. Unsurprisingly, Audi captured both the LMP1 Drivers (Allan McNish and Rinaldo Capello) and Teams championships by a country mile.
