Golden Pond - a photo on Flickriver

Golden Pond

            Every autumn for the last 20+ years, I've always found time to take the short drive up to the western flanks of the LaPlata Mountains in SW Colorado to check out the conditions at this small pond. Surprisingly, I've yet to see another photographer here. The pond is ideally situated to reflect this aspen grove, with Hesperus Mountain & Sharkstooth Peak providing a near perfect backdrop.   Stormy conditions on this day hid the mountains, but helped provide some dramatic skies & light when the sun burst through the clouds for a few minutes prior to sunset.
