Meet Laurel

This is Laurel, my latest doll. He is a MALE Custom House/AiDoll Laura, and I absolutely love him!

He is a 2011/2012 mold I purchased secondhand, like every BJD in my collection (except Avram.) I bought him "unstrung" from Contemporary Artist Dolls, and he arrived in under a week with acrylic eyes, S-hooks, and stringing, yay!

I didn't have any problems, but his previous owner endured a one-year wait (and Custom House sent her a boy instead of the girl she wanted.)

As for me, I am VERY satisfied with this guy :D! I hope Custom House eventually gets its act together, because the sculpt is so, so pretty.

Then again, I knew what to expect from this guy... so I'll put my EXTREME JOY :DDD aside to share these some facts:

1. His legs are single-jointed without "mobility thighs." The legs can't bend past 90 degrees or move leg/right without getting popped out of the socket (do so at your own risk.) Newer BJDs, like my 2011 ResinSoul's, come with mobility slits and double-jointed legs.

2. His eyes are not symmetrical or evenly beveled. I think this is only a flaw in mine. You might have to sand or bevel your doll's eyes if the asymmetry bugs you. I'm not doing that--- I love him as he is :).

3. He has some seamlines (on his hands, not everywhere. Neck, legs and arms are silky-smooth.) The seams aren't prominent or rough, and can be sanded.

4. AiDolls now has a 1 year warranty and "Satisfaction Guarantee" with their dolls. It claims you can send your doll back to the company with shipping refunded during a 1-year period, as long as you didn't damage or mod your doll. Is this warranty any good? No idea--- I'm keeping this guy! MINE! :D!!!
