The DB4 GT was a special lightweight, high performance version of the DB4, introduced at the London Motorshow September 1959. The GT featured enclosed head lights and a lighter 18 gauge aluminium skin. The wheelbase was reduced by 5 inches resulting in the rear seats replaced by a luggage platform, together these changes resulted in a 200 lb weight saving.
The GT used a tuned engine which, equipped with a twin-plug cylinder head and triple Weber 45DCOE carburettors, produced a claimed 302bhp against the 240bhp of the standard DB4. Maximum speed was dependant on gearing, but 153mph was achieved during testing with a 0-60mph time of 6.1 seconds recorded.

Viewed from the front, the GT was readily distinguishable by its faired-in headlamps with Perspex covers, a feature later made standard on the DB5 and DB6. The rear screen and quarter windows were made of Perspex on many examples; bumper over-riders were deleted and the wind-down windows were frame-less within the doors. Twin, quick-release, Monza competition fuel fillers were added atop the rear wings, leading to a large-capacity fuel tank mounted flat in the boot. GTs were fitted as standard with lightweight Borrani 42-spoke wire wheels with alloy rims and three-ear 'knock-offs'. The interior was trimmed to full Aston Martin road car specification, with fine Connolly leather upholstery and deep-pile Wilton carpeting..

Seventy five GTs were built with this body style, nineteen more were modified in the Zagota works in Italy as DB4 GT Zagotos with plain oval grilles and smoothed out rear ends. A further car was styled by Bertone and dubbed the Bertone Jet.

This cars first owner was a Mr Samuel McCrudden of Crawfordsburn, County Down, Northern Ireland and first registered on 14th November 1960. But according to Mr. McCruden he was forced to part with the car by his wife who had claimed was frightened by the car. It was subsequently through Blake & Co, Aston Martin main agents in Liverpool on 22nd February 1961 to Mr Eric Norbury, an agricultural engineer then of Redditch, Worcestershire with only a few hundred miles on the clock. He used the car so sparringly that it was unknown to the Aston Martin Owners Club until Mr. Norbury joined the club in the 1990s the car had seemingly vanished and was referred to as 'the great lost Belfast car'. In 2004 it was all good at the Bonhams May sale at Newport Pagnall with a sale guide price of £ 290,000 to £ 340,000 (2004)
