Biscuiterie & 1557 Door - a photo on Flickriver

HAPPY WINDOW WEDNESDAY(S)!
I have already posted the window upstairs (LINK below). Downstairs deserved its own image. Both in one image would not have done justice to either.

The inscription over the door on the right says MDLVII = 1557.
I did not ask whether there had been a bakery there, clear since then, but it seems possible.

NB - For non-French, the actual name of this place, l' Artisane, announces that it is proudly "artisanale." This means they make their offerings from scratch. They don't just pop stuff made elsewhere in their oven and pretend they are bakers.
They offer much more than biscuits. The sign on the window says it is also a boulangerie, patisserie and even a Viennoiserie! In addition, you can get "le sandwich." That word is of course one the French have borrowed from English. They don't do that much.
