The Daily Donkey Walk - a photo on Flickriver

            For city kids (and adults) there are donkeys to see, in a small corral in our local Tierpark Lange Erlen. However, the donkeys need some exercise. So, the park staff (many are volunteers) take them out of the park, across this foot bridge over the adjacent little River Wiese, and into some public woods on the other side. In my photo, they are on their way back to the park. 

The park is one of our favorite local places. Admission is free. It is mostly comprised of very large outdoor spaces in which groups of animals (e.g. deer, small wild cats, lynx, bison, fox, mountain goats, domestic goats, wild pigs, monkeys) seem reasonably content. 
There is also a beautiful pond open to the sky. Ducks and geese come and go. Storks come and make nests high up in old trees every spring. I am not a big fan of zoos. However, this place is more park than zoo. It does a very nice job of making it a pleasant place for the animals, birds and people.
