Static displays at the British Grand Prix are usually abysmal and this year, once again, was no exception to the rule. However, the local constabulary usually attempt to make up for it.

For a few years Northamptonshire Police and the Central Motorway Police Group (CMPG) had a brilliant display of vehicles on show for the spectators. 

This year's offering was put on by Northamptonshire, Staffordshire and, surprisingly, the Metropolitan Police forces. Although smaller than usual there were still some nice things on show.

Amongst a number of vehicles parked up alongside the old start/finish straight was DAF CF 450 that is currently on loan to Staffordshire Police.

The truck is owned by National Highways and is loaned out to different police forces and can be seen patrolling the UK's motorway network. 

Blue light-equipped, it is predominantly used to ensure that truck drivers are wearing seat belts and not using a mobile phone at the wheel etc, the high driving position allowing officers to peer into the cab of a passing HGV.

Safe to say, Staffordshire's Road Policing Unit won the prize for largest exhibit on show!
