Morris Motors Fire Brigade Morris Minor (TFC 953)

One of the exhibits at the British Motor Museum in Gaydon, Warwickshire.
 
This vintage fire engine served with the Morris Motors' in-house fire brigade at the company's Cowley factory in Oxfordshire.

A one-off vehicle based upon the prototype chassis for the Minor quarter-ton van it was specially designed to be able to manouvre around the production lines of the factory in case of an emergency.

It had an impressive service life of some 37 years, thirty as a front-line vehicle with an additional seven as a reserve fleet appliance before finally being retired from service in 1990.

Such was the length of its operational life it actually saw service throughout the various incarnations of the company's ownership history encompassing the British Motor Comporation (BMC), British Leyland, Austin Rover and even the Rover Group days!
