Dawn on a Volcanic Sea - a photo on Flickriver

            The eastern sky lights up over the Pacific amidst the lava rocks of southeast O‘ahu.  Sunrises here tend towards the warm and dramatic, thanks not just to the frequent presence of various kinds of cloud formations produced by confluence of sea and land, but also as a result of the "vog" produced by the active volcanoes of the Big Island of Hawai‘i, off to the southeast.  I took this shot while standing on a rocky islet as the tide came in.  I walked out there, but had to wade a bit on the way back.
