The distinctive gables of this part of Petergate range in date from the 14th to the 17th centuries. On the extreme left, 81 Low Petergate dates from the 15th century. It housed the famous Scott's butcher's shop which closed in 2008 after 130 years. Next door is 79 Low Petergate which dates from the second half of the 14th century. The next four gables cover three 16th century timber framed houses, the two centre gable are built in the 17th century. Another 17th century house comes next, refronted in brick in the 18h century at number 71. Next door is a Victorian house over a shop. The small white building next door, number 67, is another 14th century house. All these buildings became shops in the 19th century. In the distance are the western towers of York Minster.
