Tulips

            Almost 12 million tulip bulbs were planted in Moscow in the fall to decorate the city with colorful tulips for the May holidays.
From his trip to Holland, Peter brought home a lot of interesting things. There were also tulips among the novelties. The bulbs of these plants were brought to Russia in 1702. The reformer tsar was so fascinated by these beautiful plants that he created a special "garden office" responsible for the extraction of overseas flowers.

The first bulbs were brought from Turkey in the mid-sixteenth century by the Austrian ambassador in office during the time of Suleiman the Magnificent. Decades later, botanist Charles de L'Ecluse introduced it to the Netherlands, where it immediately caused a sensation. The tulip, the national flower of the Netherlands, is a symbol of declarations of love and bloom upon the arrival of spring. This bulb shines through the many varieties, thanks to which it is covered in thousands of different ways and colors.
