Prince Edward County beach - a photo on Flickriver

            Prince Edward County in Ontario is a very popular destination known for its beaches, vineyards, beautiful landscapes, marinas, and quaint villages. In essence, the region is a large island in Lake Ontario giving it a moderate climate. While I've visited it before, this year I had the chance to view it in a different fashion. My daughter offered us her camping trailer for a few days and we took advantage of experiencing the shoreline up close. I made this quick sketch of our beach on Soup Bay. Its not as well known as the close-by Sandbanks Provincial Park beach, but it has the advantage of being less crowded. The other big difference is that while Sandbanks is a classic sandy beach, this one has an immense and shallow rock shelf stretching out into the lake; very impressive.

Le comté de Prince Edward en Ontario est une destination très populaire connue pour ses plages, ses vignobles, ses paysages magnifiques, ses marinas et ses villages pittoresques. Essentiellement, la région est une grande île du lac Ontario, ce qui lui confère un climat tempéré. Alors que je l'ai déjà visité, cette année j'ai eu la chance de le voir d'une manière différente. Ma fille nous a offert sa roulotte de camping pour quelques jours et nous avons profité de l'expérience du rivage de près. J'ai fait ce croquis rapide de notre plage sur Soup Bay. Elle n'est pas aussi connue que la plage voisine du parc provincial Sandbanks, mais elle a l'avantage d'être moins fréquentée. L'autre grande différence est que si Sandbanks est une plage de sable classique, celle-ci possède une immense plate-forme rocheuse peu profonde qui s'étend dans le lac; très impressionnant.
