Sign Post Forest in Watson Lake, Yukon Territory

            We camped outside of Watson Lake and drove through it in the morning. The main attraction in Watson Lake was the Signpost Forest. The Milepost said there are over 70,000 signs and license plates in this area. The idea belonged to a US GI during the building of the Alaska Highway.

Shortly after this we started to head out of Watson Lake but didn't get far. The Alaska Highway was closed due to wildfires. Our alternative was to wait it out or take a very long detour. After waiting about 6 hours we decided to take the detour, only to find out the road was opening shortly. We joined the queue, waited some more and then took a long convoy through the wildfire zone. The active wildfires themselves weren't that bad but the smoke continued to intensify after we got through the active zone. Places we wanted to stop, such as Liard Hot Springs looked like they were on Mars. Yuck.
