The Historical Theresa Gold Mine, Victor Colorado

            The Colorado Gold Rush was the boom in prospecting and mining of gold that began in 1859 when the land was still part of the Kansas Territory. It lasted throughout the mid 1800s and is still considered to be the largest gold rush in American history. 
The Theresa Goldmine operated intermittently from 1895 to 1961. It was owned by several different mining companies over the years, and produced over 120,000 troy ounces of gold (4 tons) with a value of about $2,500,000.  The entire surface plant was destroyed by fire in 1934 and completely rebuilt.  The last active period of exploration started in 1961 but failed to give promising results which led to the final closure of the mine.
