K is for Kitchen 42/2020

            This is a model of my Grandmother's kitchen, it was made for me by my husband, who also made the table as we couldn't buy an exact model, I made the rag rug. I am still missing a sofa which should be under the bookcase. 
Everything happened in the kitchen, lighting was by oil lamps, cooking was done on the range, water was heated on the open fire and we were bathed in the 'long tom' bath in front of the fire.  Nan had her rocking chair and Grancher the other chair by the fireside. The hook in the ceiling was for hanging a side of bacon when the pig was killed. in order to slay  the village pigs, the pig sticker arrived early in the morning, this meant an early start for the village children as there was always a competition for the bladders which made excellent footballs.
