WMPTE 2056, Wolverhampton, 1982

            West Midlands Passenger Transport Executive made good use of all-over bus advertising, with quite a number of buses in the fleet receiving all over advert liveries during their service lives. Metrobus 2056 was one such recipient receiving this catching livery for Wolverhampton based radio station 'Beacon 303' and also for WMPTE's Travelcard. 2056 had been new to Hartshill bus garage, but on receiving this livery, was transferred to Wolverhampton in exchange for sister bus 2069. 

2056 went onto become a bit of a billboard for the company, going on to wear two versions of an all over advertising campaign livery for the Rowley Building Society. 2056 later wore an all over pale blue livery for West Midlands Travel advertising Travelcard. 

The bus is pictured in Lichfield Street, Wolverhampton outside what was then the Co op department store. It was from this bus stop that the long and arduous 79 service from Birmingham via Wednesbury terminated and departed. The 79 bus route required buses from three bus garages to operate it, these being Wolverhampton, West Bromwich and Hockley.
