Situé sous le centre-ville de Thonon, le port de Rives longe le littoral lémanique jusqu'au célèbre Château de Ripaille qui fut longtemps l'une des résidences des Ducs de Savoie. Le port est habité par des pêcheurs qui vivent dans de petites maisons séparées par des rues étroites. Après l'annexion de la Savoie par la France en 1860 conjuguée à la naissance du thermalisme, le site se développe progressivement. La voie principale est construite, le port de plaisance voit le jour, il compte aujourd'hui 800 places. Devenu un lieu à la mode, de nombreuses demeures voient le jour face au lac.
