            Niet veel later kwam de tweede alpen express door Nijmegen, zonder stop. Getrokken door de railexperts 1251. Deze trein zou in Arnhem kopmaken en worden overgenomen door de railexperts 9901, de trekkracht van de eerste alpenexpres tot aan Arnhem.
