San Montano bay

            San Montano ha sicuramente un fascino tropicale che la rende diversa da tutte le altre spiagge dell’isola d’Ischia. Molti hanno paragonato lo scenario dell’intera baia più ad ambienti da villaggio turistico in Kenia esaltandone la sua caratteristica forma a mezzaluna. Subito dopo la seconda guerra mondiale, il Duca Luigi Silvestro Camerini, l’ideatore del vicino (alla spiaggia) parco termale Negombo, si innamorò di questo angolo di costa ischitana ritenendo che fosse del tutto simile alla stupenda laguna della città di Mīgamuva, nello Sri Lanka, e perciò pensò bene di acquistare diversi appezzamenti di terreno attorno alla baia, attratto dalla prospettiva di poter sfruttare l’antica sorgente termale presente in zona.
