Special Sight - a photo on Flickriver

Special Sight

            N782SP, a 53-year-old McDonnell Douglas DC-8-72CF, on approach to runway 23 at Toronto Pearson International Airport in Mississauga, Ontario. 

It was arriving as NSP8 (Samaritan's Purse) from Katowice Airport in Pyrzowice, Poland. It was bringing 28 Ukrainians to live with relatives in Canada. Its aft cabin accommodates 32 passengers. After only 100 minutes on the ground, it departed for its home at Greensboro, North Carolina. 

Serial number 46013 began its career as a DC-8-62CF, wearing OH-LFR with Finnair O/Y, on January 27, 1969. 

Today, only seven DC-8s remain airworthy. 
Besides this example, there are two operated by Trans Air Cargo Service (9S-AJG / 46110 and 9S-AJO / 46133) in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo; three with Sky Bus (OB-2158-P / 46091, OB-2059-P / 45990 and N805SJ / 46125) in Lima, Peru; and one with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (N817NA / 46082) in Edwards, California.
