I wake at night.

            I created this image as part of a demonstration during a 1-1 workshop I gave in Portland a few weeks ago. I guess I bring the California weather with me wherever I go, because we ended up with a rare sunny afternoon the day of, as luck would have it.

I rarely shoot at high noon, so of course none of my concepts matched the circumstances, so I had to get creative. It proved to be a great opportunity to show just how easily you can turn a sunny day into a moody moonlit scene with just a few color tweaks. 

Consistently I’ve found that photography really is little more than creative problem solving and quick thinking to adapt to whatever curve balls the day throws your way.
