Megachilidae Anthidium manicatum. L’abeille cotonière. The European wool carder bee.

            Megachilidae Anthidium manicatum sur  un Stachys byzantina dit « Oreille d’Ours ». Cette plante doit son nom à son feuillage doux à l’aspect de peluche. Ses feuilles très duveteuses avec des poils abondants sont particulièrement appréciées des Megachilidae Anthidium manicatum, qui les arrachent, en font des boulettes qu’elles transporteront dans leur terrier.

Megachilidae Anthidium manicatum, commonly called the European wool carder bee, landed on a leaf of a Byzantine Stachys called "Bear's Ear". It is a plant with downy leaves with lots of hair, that this bee likes and pulls them to carry in its burrow in the form of pellets. In a previous photo we can see what happens to the leaf after tearing hair.
