The moated castle of Hamburg! ☆ „Thanks for the Flickr explore"

            ENG: The moated castle, also known as Wasserschlösschen, is a historic building in Hamburg's warehouse district and is situated on a exposed peninsula between two canals. It has been a listed monument since 1991. Here the moated castle can be seen from the east, that is from the Poggenmühlenbridge

The four-story building was constructed between 1905 and 1907 in the course of the third construction phase of the warehouse district (1899 to 1912) and is one of the most famous landmarks and oldest buildings in the historic warehouse complex. Originally, the moated castle was used as accommodation and workshop for the dock workers. Today the building is used commercially. On the first floor, for example, there is a tea trade with an attached restaurant. Because of its location and architecture, it also served as a backdrop for television productions, for example for the TV children's series "Die Pfefferkörner" (The Peppercorns).

GER: Das Wasserschloss, auch Wasserschlösschen genannt, ist ein historisches Gebäude in der Hamburger Speicherstadt und liegt auf einer Halbinsel in exponierter Lage zwischen zwei Fleeten und es steht seit 1991 unter Denkmalschutz. Hier ist das Wasserschloss von Osten her zu sehen, sprich von der Poggenmühlenbrücke aus. 

Das vierstöckige Gebäude wurde zwischen 1905 und 1907 im Zuge des dritten Bauabschnitts der Speicherstadt (1899 bis 1912) erbaut und ist eines der bekanntesten Wahrzeichen und ältesten Gebäude in dem historischen Lagerhauskomplex. Ursprünglich wurde das Wasserschloss als Unterkunft und Werkstatt für die Hafenarbeiter genutzt. Heutzutage wird das Gebäude gewerblich genutzt. Im Erdgeschoss befindet sich zum Beispiel ein Teehandel mit angeschlossener Gastronomie. Wegen seiner Lage und Architektur diente es auch als Kulisse für Fernsehproduktionen, beispielsweise für die TV-Kinderserie „Die Pfefferkörner“ außerdem dient es als „Außentraustelle“ des Standesamts Hamburg–Mitte.
