Freiberger Dom Blick zur Silbermann Orgel

            Der Dom St. Marien ist eine evangelisch-lutherische Kirche am Untermarkt im sächsischen Freiberg. Vor der Reformation war das Gotteshaus eine Stiftskirche, eine Kathedrale (Bischofskirche) war es nie. Ungeachtet dessen ist der Freiberger Dom eines der am reichsten ausgestatteten Gotteshäuser Sachsens und enthält mit der Goldenen Pforte, der Tulpenkanzel, den Orgeln Gottfried Silbermanns und dem zur Begräbnisstätte der Albertiner umgestalteten Chor bedeutende Kunstwerke.

In den Jahren 1710 bis 1714 erbaute Gottfried Silbermann eine Orgel mit 44 Registern. Es war seine erste große Orgel in Deutschland und blieb das größte Werk, das er eigenhändig schuf. 
Das Instrument ist eine der berühmtesten Barockorgeln und eine der am besten erhaltenen Orgeln Silbermanns.
