Lygaeus equestris in Low Key - a photo on Flickriver

Lygaeus equestris, conocida vulgarmente como chinche de campo, es una especie de insecto perteneciente a la familia Lygaeidae, subfamilia Lygaeinae. Se encuentra en Europa, África y Asia (excluyendo China). Se alimenta de Taraxacum y Vincetoxicum.
Estos bichos pueden medir aproximadamente 11 a 12 milímetros de longitud. Tienen un característico patrón de color rojo-negro, alas y patas bien desarrolladas. Los élitros tienen en su parte rígida roja, dos bandas transversales negras. La parte membranosa es negra con una mancha redonda blanca. El escutelo tiene cerdas pero tiene pelos diminutos.

Lygaeus equestris, commonly known as field bug, is a species of insect belonging to the family Lygaeidae, subfamily Lygaeinae. It is found in Europe, Africa and Asia (excluding China). It feeds on Taraxacum and Vincetoxicum.

These bugs can measure approximately 11 to 12 millimeters in length. They have a characteristic red-black pattern, wings and well-developed legs. The elytra have in their rigid red part, two black transverse bands. The membranous part is black with a white round spot. The scutellum has bristles but has tiny hairs.
