This is a view through the Huer's Lookout the beach which can be glimpsed is about a mile distant.

The Huer's Lookout was built in the 14th century. From here a lookout would alert local fishermen of huge shoals of pilchards. The building fell into disuse in the 19th century when the shoals no longer returned. On the horizon is Newquay, Cornwall and one of its internationally reknowned surfing beaches ...
