Sitting on the sand at Barmouth, North Wales

            On yet another horribly grey day in North Wales this was a desperate attempt to find some colour, and the yachts and small boats sitting on the sand at low tide in Barmouth's harbour came to the rescue. This is on the northern side of the Mawddach estuary, on the west coast of Wales. Historically, Barmouth was an important ship-building centre but after the arrival of the railway in the 1860s it became increasingly important as a holiday resort.
