The Dart Valley near Dartmeet, Dartmoor

            This shot was taken from near the centre of Dartmoor National Park, where there are extensive views of the valley of the River Dart. The river rises high on Dartmoor before flowing south to join the sea at Dartmouth. Its name is presumed to be Brythonic Celtic meaning 'river where oak trees grow'. It begins as two separate branches (the East Dart and West Dart), which join at Dartmeet, a short distance from here.
