Ancient alleyway, Looe, Cornwall - a photo on Flickriver

            This ancient alleyway, known as an "ope", runs underneath a Grade II-listed 17th century former townhouse and connects Fore Street in Looe with The Quay, which runs alongside the harbour. I can easily imagine it being used by smugglers in bygone years. Looe is a pretty little seaside resort in south-east Cornwall. It still retains a fishing industry with a large fish market on the riverside, by the other end of this alleyway.
