Summer at the 15th Lock - a photo on Flickriver

There was lots of activity at the 15th lock on the Royal Canal on this fabulous summer evening. In the foreground we see Water Ways Ireland's week clearing boat moored at the jetty just east of the lock, there are two fishermen fishing from the jetty, and an InterCity service from Dublin-Connolly to Sligo is speeding by. The train is an Irish Rail Class 22000 6-car diesel multiple unit. You can also just see the moon high in the sky in the centre of the shot.

This shot was taken from Chamber's Bridge looking east, with the lock itself directly behind the bridge. It was generated by tonemapping a single RAW image with Photomatix Pro.

This shot featured on my blog as Photo of the Week 132 & 133 - The Royal Canal.

This is one of the five photos I chose to show-case in the Progressive & Artistic Railway Photography Flickr group's Blurb Book Along Different Lines.
