"Réplica del navío que entre 1519-1522 realizó la Primera Vuelta al Mundo, la mayor hazaña marítima de todos los tiempos. Por primera vez en la historia un barco, que sale y regresa del puerto de Sevilla capitaneado por Juan Sebastián Elcano, consiguió rodear el planeta.

Construida en España en 1991, para trazar las formas y definir las características de la nave se siguió un largo proceso de investigación histórica dirigido por Ignacio Fernández Vial, su diseñador y constructor. Un exhaustivo estudio basado en fuentes documentales, crónicas, tratados náuticos del siglo XVI, e iconografía de la época, que permitió precisar sus dimensiones principales, arboladura, velas y equipos.

En 2004 para conmemorar la primera vuelta al mundo y difundir la labor descubridora de los marinos españoles, esta réplica de la Nao Victoria emprende de nuevo desde Sevilla un viaje alrededor del globo. Durante los años 2004 a 2006 se navegaron 26.894 millas y se visitaron 17 países, siendo la primera réplica histórica en circunnavegar la tierra".

Replica of the ship that between 1519-1522 made the First Around the World, the greatest maritime feat of all time. For the first time in history, a ship, which leaves and returns from the port of Seville captained by Juan Sebastián Elcano, managed to circle the planet.

Built in Spain in 1991, to trace the shapes and define the characteristics of the ship, a long process of historical research was followed, led by Ignacio Fernández Vial, its designer and builder. An exhaustive study based on documentary sources, chronicles, nautical treatises from the 16th century, and iconography of the time, which made it possible to specify its main dimensions, rigging, sails and equipment.

In 2004 to commemorate the first voyage around the world and spread the discovery work of the Spanish sailors, this replica of the Nao Victoria once again undertakes a trip around the globe from Seville. During the years 2004 to 2006 26,894 miles were sailed and 17 countries were visited, being the first historical replica to circumnavigate the earth.
