The Well

            One of the reasons to visit Sintra was Quinta da Regaleira, a magnificent park with elements of Roman, Gothic, Renaissance, and Manueline styles.
This initiation well never served as a water source. Instead, it was used for ceremonial purposes that included Tarot initiation rites. It contains a 27-meter spiral staircase with several small landings. The spacing of these landings, combined with the number of steps in the stairs, are linked to Tarot mysticism.
Photographing this scene was not made easy. For one: it is one of the highlights of the park, so crowds were passing by. Waiting for the right moment and some eraser-skills in post nailed it.  This is a handheld shot with 5 bracketed exposures (-2, -1, 0, +1, +2) merged together in Adobe Camera Raw. It was processed in PS CC 2019 and Nik Colorefex Pro 4.
