ARR 3009 Beluga Point 23 Jun 12 - a photo on Flickriver

            ARR 3009 leads the Glacier Discovery north as it weaves its way between the Seward Highway and the Turnagain Arm on its way back to Anchorage in our sixth offering in my Alaska Revisited series.

I believe this was the end of the longest string of sunny days southcentral Alaska saw during the summer of 2012...a whole 5 days of sunshine!  2012 was an odd summer for me as I was still inexperienced chasing the ARR and I missed out on many opportunities.  Why I didn't venture further south on the Seward Highway that summer, I have no idea.  Why I didn't go chase the Coastal Classic after getting this shot, I have no idea.  I did spend a lot of time over at the airport shooting 747s and MD-11s taking off, so that's one explanation, but the cloudy, cool weather being pervasive almost all summer long is most likely the main reason.  No matter, because 2013 turned out to be an amazing summer for southcentral Alaska with abundant sunshine so everything I missed out on in 2012 was caught the next summer when I had a much better grasp on when and where things were running.
