AMTK 183 Grand Forks 17 Dec 06 - a photo on Flickriver

            A herald-less AMTK 183 leads a late eastbound Empire Builder down the Hillsboro Sub after a brief station stop in Grand Forks, ND.

This was the first Empire Builder I was able to catch in Grand Forks which is saying something because both versions would come through well after dark.  I wasn't aware this train was late, and when I heard the defect detector go off, I assumed it was a grain train.  But when I heard the dispatcher giving a warrant to "AMTK 1-8-3" I grabbed my stuff and was off.  I don't recall how fast I was traveling down the dirt road to cross in front of the train, but it was on the side closer to insane.  I was able to pop out of the car just in time and snap this shot!
