I have wanted for a long time to stop by and talk with the landowners of this particular feature. In my time living in White County, I had noted that it was once farmland, and now is inundated. I knocked on the door and Mr. Tommy Lynn invited me to sit down and we talked about this pond, sinkholes, and caves.

Mr. Lynn farms the property and leases it from someone else. He told me that one day the sinkhole that drains the field just stopped draining. He was unsure what had changed that caused the difference. Looking back at historic imagery using Google earth, it flooded between 2008 and 2013.

He told me stories of a pond being swallowed by a sinkhole, and about other nearby sinkholes that had popped up. We had an interesting critical discussion on the use of dowsing rods, and their supposed relationship to caves and groundwater.
