Le manchot africain est un oiseau marin de la famille des Spheniscidae. Il a un corps allongé avec un dos et une tête noirs et un ventre blanc.
Toutes les espèces de manchots se trouvent dans l'hémisphère sud. Ils vivent principalement au bord ou à proximité de la mer et des courants froids, et ne reviennent sur terre que pour se reproduire et élever leurs poussins.
Le manchot se nourrit principalement de krill antarctique (crevettes), de poissons et de calmars, selon l'espèce.
Le poussin est nourri par ses parents qui régurgitent leur nourriture pendant 2 à 13 mois.
Bien qu'il possède des ailes, le manchot est incapable de voler. C'est cette caractéristique qui le différencie du manchot avec lequel il est souvent confondu.

The African penguin is a seabird of the family Spheniscidae. It has an elongated body with a black back and head and a white belly.
All penguin species are found in the Southern Hemisphere. They live mostly at or near the sea and cold currents, and only return to land to breed and raise their chicks.
The penguin feeds mainly on Antarctic krill (shrimp), fish and squid, depending on the species.
The chick is fed by its parents who regurgitate their food for 2 to 13 months.
Although it has wings, the penguin is unable to fly. It is this characteristic that differentiates it from the penguin with which it is often confused.
