In 1929 Hans Hürlimann founded a company in Will (St. Gallen) for the manufacture of tractors. The Swiss Hürlimann tractors were widely known as Rolls Royce tractors.

Hürlimann tractors also served as tractor units in the Swiss Army.

Other Swiss tractor manufacturers include Aebi, Bucher, Bührer, Eiger, Grunder, Köpfli, Meili, Plumett, Rapid, Rohrer, Schlitter, SLM and Vevey
