Baobabs at Sunset in Madagascar - a photo on Flickriver

            Casting long shadows, Grandidier's baobab trees along the Avenue of the Baobabs, obscure the light as the sun sets in a smoky haze.

On the southern west coast of Madagascar near the town of Morondava.

It was the end of a long, hot day of driving in Madagascar when we stopped at the Avenue of the Baobabs just before sunset.  This is a special time here and there were lots of people.  The trees were incredible and made even more majestic by the long shadows cast by the setting sun.  It was a quiet, serene, awe inspiring experience.  Each time we look at this photo, it takes us back to that moment in Madagascar.
