Starry Skies over Vermont Village - a photo on Flickriver

It's late summer in this evening photo from the rural town of Peacham, Vermont, With just two days before the start of autumn, you can see that the foliage is already making an appearance, most likely because of many nightime temperatures hovering around either side of the freezing mark.

In September 2005, Peacham was designated "Best New England Village" by Yankee Magazine. The farm, red barn, and church depicted here are located next to the center of town, which also includes the Peacham General Store, the Peacham Cafe, as well as a library, blacksmith shop, and a fire station. The population of the town is 628 as of the 2019 census.

The distant mountains in the background, 45 miles to the east in the state of New Hampshire, are Mt. Washington, Mt. Clay, Mt. Jefferson, Mt. Adams, and Mt. Madison.
